A Note for Families and Carers
If you're looking into this on behalf of someone you care about, please do get in touch - I'd love to hear from you. We can have a relaxed conversation about what your loved one needs, what might suit them best, and how to make their learning technology feel as comfortable as possible.
From Anxiety to Independence
“I wasn’t sure I was happy to see you Rachel, at all. I was that anxious. Now, I can call my sister in Spain whenever I want.”
— Former Client
I met a client in Surrey who had only ever used a landline. Her transition to a smartphone was transformative. Through patient, step-by-step jargon-free support in her own living room, she moved from deep-seated fear to the pure joy of her first WhatsApp video call. This is the heart of what Amble Digital does: building confidence - in your home, at your pace.
Ready to build your digital confidence or would like to find out more?
What can you learn?
Whatever matters to you - we start there
There's no fixed curriculum and no list of things you "have to" learn. Every session is built around what you actually want to do with your device. Here are some of the things clients most often ask for help with:
-
Whether you've just got a new smartphone, tablet, or computer — or you've had one for years but never felt quite sure of it, we'll work through it together, starting from the very basics if that's where you need to begin.
-
See and speak to family and friends face to face, wherever they are in the world. We'll set up WhatsApp, FaceTime, or Zoom on your device and practise making and receiving calls until it feels natural.
-
Writing, sending, receiving, and organising your emails — we'll cover it all. Whether you want to stay in touch with family, correspond with your GP, or simply feel less confused by your inbox, we'll work through it step by step.
-
The NHS App lets you book GP appointments, order repeat prescriptions, and access your medical records from your phone or tablet. We'll get it set up and walk through how to use it, so you feel comfortable using it on your own.
-
Scams are increasingly common and often very convincing. We'll look at how to recognise suspicious messages, emails, and phone calls — and what to do if something doesn't feel right, so you can use the internet with greater confidence.
-
From browsing and buying on Amazon or supermarket websites, to checking your bank balance or setting up a payment — we'll go through it carefully and at your own pace, with security and safety in mind throughout.
-
Taking photos, finding them again, organising them into albums, sharing them with family, and making sure they’re safely backed up.
-
You can learn how to access and use a wide range of online services, such as:
checking an energy bill
renewing a bus pass
filling in official forms
navigating a council website
All at your own pace and with support every step of the way.
Don't see what you're looking for?
This list is just a starting point. If there's something specific you'd like help with that isn't here, just get in touch if I can help, I will.
